Disneyland Paris for non thrill seekers

As a person who loves thrill rides it can be difficult to relate to those who do not enjoy them. I’ve attended Disney parks many times with my family and my dad hates thrill rides of any kind. This means that I have had the chance to experience the parks from a different side and look at the rides more suitable for younger children and people who can’t/don’t go on the big thrilling rides. Because of this, it means I enjoy Disney parks even more, no matter who I’m with; because I now believe that a lot of Disney magic is actually in the attractions (non-rides). Therefore, below I’m going to talk about my favourite walk through attractions as well as my favourite slow rides.

Attractions

Fantasyland

Alice’s Curious Labyrinth - I love Alice in Wonderland and this labyrinth is a great homage to the animated classic. Embark on a journey through the rabbit hole and get confused along the way to try and find the Queen of Heart’s castle. With twists and turns, tiny doors, confusing signs and magical creatures you’ll be sure to have a great time getting lost in this maze. And finally when you climb to the top of the castle you can see an amazing view of Fantasyland. This one is great for all the family and definitely one of my favourites.

La Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant - Experience the story of Sleeping Beauty in stunning mosaics inside the castle. This has become one of my favourite places to go, as an adult, as every mosaic is hand crafted and absolutely beautiful. Sleeping Beauty has always been a fave disney classic of mine and this attraction really lives up to all the magic I saw as a child.

La Taniere du Dragon - Beware of the creature lurking under the castle. In homage to the classic film, the Imagineers placed the dragon form of Maleficent chained up underneath Sleeping Beauty’s castle. The caves are wonderful to take a stroll through but I’d definitely stay away from the edge and try not to wake the sleeping dragon! This is a fantastic attraction for lovers of the film and the kids alike.

Adventureland

La Cabane des Robinson - This amazing tree house is home to the Swiss Family Robinson. Ascend into the trees to see the amazing view of the park but also how the family lives. Enter bedrooms, the kitchen and even a library all built into the foliage and branches of this magnificent tree. I love this walkthrough and it’s a great one for adventurous kids.

Discoveryland

Les Mysteres du Nautilus - Dive down into Captain Nemo’s submarine and discover the secrets of the deep. Wander through the hallways and see what it really is like to be 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I love the architecture in this walkthrough and so always have to have a quick go every visit.

Rides

Fantasyland

ree

Le Pays des Contes de Fees - Hop aboard a boat and sail through classic storybook tales and even enter the Cave of Wonders. This ride is one of my absolute favourites, each little scene is perfectly built and it certainly brings back amazing feelings of nostalgia. It’s a great slow ride for little ones as each scene is truly enchanting and will definitely make everyone fall in love with the tales on show.

Les Voyages de Pinocchio - Visit Stromboli’s marionette show and follow Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket on an adventure. Experience the film once again as you follow along in a wooden car. I always make time on my trip for this dark ride, the story and ride itself is definitely my favourite of the Fantasyland dark rides.

Peter Pan - This is definitely the busiest attraction in fantasyland but it is fantastic for young kids. If you fancy a flight to Neverland and a fight against Captain Hook then this is the perfect ride for you. The colours and movement are mesmerising for any child and it’s a great nostalgic ride for any disney fan.

Adventureland

Pirates of the Caribbean - This is my favourite ride in Disneyland Parc! Go on a swashbuckling voyage through many scenes filled with characters, new and old, as you try to unearth the hidden treasure. This is a classic disney ride and continues to be updated as Barbossa and Captain Jack Sparrow now join you on your journey. It is definitely not to be missed and is great for any age.

Discoveryland

Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast - This is a classic shooting ride with a twist. Based off of Toy Story and Buzz Lightyear, hop aboard and try to defeat Emperor Zurg by shooting targets along the ride. You get to operate the spinning of your vehicle on the ride, meaning it can be as nice and gentle as you want it. This ride is great for competitive people, like me, and for kids who love the Toy Story films.

Frontierland

Phantom Manor - Hop aboard a doom buggy and see the ghosts that now haunt this mansion. Following Henry Ravenswood and his daughter as all her suitors seem to find a terrible demise. Maybe you’ll end up the same way or see if you can escape! This ride is classic disney and is great for all ages. The movement is extremely gentle and creates disney magic in a calm, creepy yet fun way.

Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing - Journey around Big Thunder Mountain on either the Mark Twain or Molly Brown paddleboat. Witness waterfalls, wilderness and caves as you sail along the river. This boat ride is extremely relaxing and fantastic for anyone, especially people that aren’t fans of thrill rides.

Walt Disney Studios

Ratatouille: The Adventure - Find yourself the size of a rat scurrying your way through the busy kitchen of Gusteau’s restaurant. This ride is so much fun for all ages and great fun for a non thrill ride. Put on your 3D glasses and scamper away from Chef Skinner before he catches you. Even though this ride can come across quite active, it is great for families and lovers of the film.

And there you go, those are my go to attractions and rides for people who don’t seek thrills. The great thing about Disney parks is that there are so many things for everyone to do. If you love thrills or hate them, if you’re in a group of adults or with young children, everyone can experience the magic that is Disney! I hope that this has helped organise your trip a bit and advise you on what to do when thrills aren’t your cup of tea. Have a magical time!
