A Disney Christmas at Home

Christmas is my favourite time of year, especially at Disney. So as I can’t go to a Disney park this Christmas season I am trying to incorporate as much Disney cheer into this festive season as possible. Unfortunately I live in a tier 4 area of Britain so it’s just me and my other half this Christmas; therefore, though intimate, I aim to make really special memories after this strange year. And so, below I will lay out some ideas for how I’m going to make this a special Disney Christmas at home.

Disney decorations are a must have for any Disney loving household at Christmas. One of my favourite places in Disneyland Paris is the Christmas shop in the castle, which I try to buy a decoration from every visit. The good thing about Disney decorations is that they don’t have to be too expensive, as I have a mix of Disney and Primark Disney decorations. My tree has a nice scattering of Disney ornaments which really do put a smile on my face. Some of my tree ornaments aren’t specifically Christmas related but that’s what great about Disney decorations, they can be used all year round. I use budget shops for Disney festive decorations like Primark and Asda so I don’t break the bank. Asda have a nice selection of Disney festive homeware like a tumbler with Mickey wearing a Santa hat which I picked up for only £1! Primark also always has a great selection of Disney decorations and gifts. I picked up a pack of Mickey baubles and a Minnie stocking for less than £10 all together. Primark also has a great selection of Disney gifts for family, friends and pets; it’s a great way of enjoying Disney festivities without spending too much, which is always a worry around this time of year.
Disney+ has a fantastic selection of Christmas films and specials which really do put you in the festive spirit. I love the nostalgia of all the Disney Christmas classics I watched as a child such as, The Santa Clause, A Muppet Christmas Carol and Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas. These kinds of films are perfect for kids and adults alike; and they are great to all sit down and watch or to have on in the background whilst wrapping presents or cooking Christmas dinner. Some of these films have a special place in my heart and I’m sure you’ll enjoy them as much as I do around this time of year. Disney+ have also added some newer films to their festive collection like Noelle and Godmothered. I watched Noelle as soon as it was released on UK Disney+ and loved it! It’s so Christmassy and it really put a smile on my face. I’m aiming to watch most festive Disney+ offerings as well as my favourite Christmas classics: Love Actually and Nativity.

I’m also cooking Christmas dinner for the first time ever by myself which is a bit daunting. Even so, I do find baking quite relaxing so I’ll be fitting in Christmassy baking throughout the season to calm me. If you haven’t seen it yet check out my Disney gingerbread baking post for some Disney Christmas baking vibes and ideas. Food is such a big part of Christmas and so I like to add a bit of Disney flair sometimes just for my own satisfaction. I really enjoy cooking and baking, especially at this time of year, it just feels so festive making little winter warmers and treats for my family and friends.
Christmas can be a stressful time but after this year I feel like it’s a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Yes it might not be the Christmas we had planned but we can all try our best to make it special. I’m adding as much Disney magic as I can to our little Christmas in any way possible. I’ve been watching a lot of Tim Tracker’s Christmas Florida vlogs to put me in the mood and lift my spirits as well as opening my POP! Funko Nightmare Before Christmas advent calender which has been a nice little festive Disney treat every day. I’ve also been looking at the Disney Store as some new merchandise has been released recently and with the boxing day sales I’m hoping to grab myself a little post Christmas gift!

I hope this post has helped you with the festive Disney feels this Christmas season and I can’t wait till we can hopefully celebrate in a Disney park next year! Enjoy your Christmas, however you celebrate it, and have a magical time!
